Transferrin FS is an immunoturbidimetric test to determine transferrin in serum or plasma. Transferrrin serves as iron transport molecule and its synthesis is highly dependent on the iron status of the body. Increased transferrin values indicate iron deficiency and high estrogen states (pregnancy); decreased values indicate iron overload, infections or tumors.
