The AroCell TK 210 ELISA is the first CE marked ELISA kit for the assay of serum Thymidine Kinase 1 (TK1).
Serum TK1 is a valuable biomarker of cellular proliferation and it has been found to be elevated in subjects with many forms of cancer, including leukemia, lymphoma, prostate, breast, lung, sarcoma and colon cancer patients.
The TK1 enzyme activity has been used for many years for prognosis and treatment monitoring of hematological malignancies, However, these enzyme activity measurements of TK-1 may be subject to interference and may underestimate TK1, especially in serum from subjects with solid tumors as recent studies have demonstrated that a large fraction of the TK1 protein in patients with solid tumor disease is inactive.. In addition, serum TK1 occurs as aggregates with a range of molecular weights and specific activities, and this distribution differs between serum from healthy subjects and those with tumors.
As an immunoassay, the AroCell TK 210 ELISA kit measures the total mass of TK1, whether the protein is active or not. This increases the value of TK1 in studying samples from patients with solid tumors and opens new research opportunities for making prognoses and monitoring the effects of therapy
The AroCell TK 210 kit brings improved sensitivity and specificity to the assay of this important biomarker by utilising monoclonal antibodies specific for the TK1 epitope TK 210, especially when studying serum TK1 derived from patients with solid tumors. The TK 210 ELISA kit procedure includes a pre-treatment of the samples with a sample dilution buffer that releases TK1 from its aggregates making it more readily accessible for assay.
